Artist Statement

Much of my art making, art therapy work, and research has focused on the idea of connection. Connecting with ourselves, each other and the environment/ natural world is  vital to our mental and physical well-being.

How can or how do we connect to the landscape, ourselves and each other through art and exploration of the natural world? In a transient world, how do we connect with place? Through meditative reflection on place, I explore a deeper sense of belonging and “genetic” connection. I use my artmaking practice as a meditative process to slow down, take notice and deeply observe the world around me. The immediacy of watercolour and ink as a medium suit my practice and process.
